Looks like it's open-source, so you can at least inspect it. I'd be wary too, but if you have the right skillset, you can make a reasonable investigation as to whether it's doing something shady or not.
At the end of the day, being wary is the right call

Well it's year 2015 and it's your job to "be sure". Educate yourself on it if you think it might be useful at some point.
Then of course, nobody is forcing you to and you could just ignore it before your inner "unsure" talks for you.
