I'm going back to dos. They have Treasure mountain there.

Seriously though, Linux only sounds more and more appealing as Windows and Mac keep getting worse and worse.

Thank you for this. I was going to go outside tomorrow , now I have an excuse not to. If there is a list, this should be on it.

Oh, and I upvoted you and the counter went up by four, I must be magic.

When you upvoat a post, it shows the total number of upovats given. Same for when you downvoat.

Virtualbox, you should have a VM anyway for that... stuff your watching online. Also PuTTY SSH kind of sucks compared to Ubuntu native terminal IMHO.

Thank you for this, it is a very interesting and fun way to learn command line. I have been a Linux user for three years and while I don't shy away from using terminal, I never feel like sifting through man pages to learn something more than ten commands I use (and probably could use in a more efficient way), so I end up using GUI.

My feelings exactly! I used to shy away from the command line thinking it was archaic. Then having to read trough thousands of man pages and tutorials is an indescribable tedium to me. If it wasn't for this game I would have never learned.

I like how you picked gifs featuring a character who spoiler alert did a murder suicide. Not sure if it is by mistake or if you are implying that people will do the same after attempting Linux. I've found modern Linux install processes to be quite pleasant and friendly. Sure beats installing windows XP.

This post is not about pleasant and friendly, it is about rising to a challenge and overcoming your fears. Most people fear the command line and seek out the pleasant and friendly. as you say. After completing the challenge you won't fear the command line any more, you will be able to go and install Linux at your leisure, having confidence that if something goes wrong you will know how to deal with it. I would have never been confident enough to install Arch as my primary system without the confidence this little game has given me.
