note that I stated I achieved my goal on win7...honestly I have no idea if the root of the issue is with win10 or the iphone...but, again, as noted I got win7 to see the DCIM (IIRC) folder and was able to copy all the photos and videos to my win7 machine

That's probably the fault of the iphone, not windows. I know I find iphones unusable because you can't put music files on them like a regular phone.

I have to use Apple at work. The devices often can't see each other, even on their own network.
These are the "high end" piles of scrap too...
