Dont have enough points to downvoat this crap, but damn, I would do it 20 times if I could. Everyone is collecting your data this way. Apple is collecting your data, google is collecting your data, yahoo, firefox, groupon, EVERYONE. They don't sell it to anyone, they don't give it away to illuminati, they dont wipe their ass with it. They use it to better your experience.

What you should be worried about isnt that they collect, it should be are they keeping it secured enough.

What could they do with our data that could possibly be bad? Honestly?

Now, I'm not approving of the "if you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to fear" stance, that's also bullshit - but like the guy above said, they aren't collecting this data so they can, I don't know, have a record of every member of the human race. What use would Microsoft or Google or anyone have for that?

They use it to create good software. Google Now does some fucking cool shit by reading the contents of my emails. If I book a flight, it'll automatically give me reminders when I should leave to get to the airport in time and show me my boarding passes automatically when it's time to board and all sorts of cool stuff, and I'm totally okay with Google being able to read my emails so it can provide that service.

If I was going to do anything I didn't want them to know about, I'd use a private internet service, linux virtual machine, VPN, a whole ton of things. There're plenty of things you can actively do to prevent your data being collected, but companies like Microsoft collecting it when they can to provide good experiences in things like Cortana - where's the harm in that?

Yes, because nobody has yet seen the Snowden documents that put MS in the spotlight collaborating with the NSA...

They don't give it away or sell it, right...

I would upvote you 20 times if I could bring myself to believe that enough corporations doing something makes it Alright(TM).

You're more than welcome to shut down your internet service at any time, aren't you?
