Don't wait, though. I fear some parts of 10 are already in 7, just more stealthily. Some components could even be added with updates as well. So getting off of 7 sooner rather than later is a good idea. Also, stop using Google products and services as much as possible (they're no different than MS at this point).

It's true that there are new bits added to Windows 7 via windows update that have nothing to do with making Windows 7 work better or more securely, and everything to do with Windows 10, so you could be right,

Remove Win10 stuff from 7/8

All windows and OSX machines have PRISM. There's no way to escape giving up your data.

If that's the case then why is Windows 10 adding all the legalese? If they didn't need the legalese in 7 or 8, why now? I'll have to look into this anyway.

Heeellll no. I never willingly used XP outside of a VM. Linux is the way to go.
