You don't actually go through the trouble do you? Seriously. You know what they're going to do with all that information? Use it to find out which soda you like so they can sell it to you.

For now, yes. But think of wider implications. If one person or one organization had knowledge of the intimate details of millions of people's lives, they would posses incredible power. Blackmail, behavioral tendencies, and detailed knowledge of people's lives could be used to manipulate others to personal gain.

An interesting thought experiment on the topic is the TV show Person of Interest.

I agree that the idea of nothing to hide nothing to fear is bullshit, but I stand that Microsoft is less likely to rat you out to your local PD and more likely to look for your favorite band alert ticketmaster.
