The power button on laptops like my Dell Inspiron i7779 is a crime against humanity!
Smaller issue first: It's placed in a location that you absolutely positively will unintentionally hit a hundred times a day if you're ever foolish enough to expect any mobility from this "2-in-1". Give up all hope of using it as a tablet or anything other than a stationary laptop. But that's just a minor disappointment.
The craziest thing is, the power button gives you absolutely positively no feedback on what's happening! The single light indicator is of no help either. And there's no fan sound to provide a clue. THERE'S NO WAY TO KNOW IF THE LAPTOP IS TURNING ON OR OFF OR WHAT!!!
Let's say your laptop froze due to a software issue (like sometimes keyboard stops working after suspend in Linux). You press the power button - nothing happens. You hold it X second - nothing happens. You hold it X+1 seconds - screen goes blank. You press it again - nothing happens. You hold it Y seconds - the screen turns on, it didn't reset. You hold it X+Y seconds, screen goes blank. You press it again - nothing happens. You hold it Z seconds - nothing happens. You hold it Z/2 seconds, let go, the Dell logo comes up and disappears. You wait a minute for something to happen, nothing happens, screen is blank. You press it again, nothing happens. You press it again and you hear a click, turns out it was turning on after all, but now it's off. You press it again and nothing happens. You wait for the wind direction to change, press it, and it turns on!
In situations like that I literally miss computers from the 80s, with a separate fool-proof RESET button that always works when you press it, and physical switches to turn them ON or OFF! Older laptops (ex Thinkpads) also didn't have a problem. Is this so hard?!
And if you ever press the power button just a bit too hard, you have to send it in for repair! That cost me $103.43 + $39 diagnosis a year ago (just days after the warranty expired).
It is a very safe bet that hundreds if not thousands of people all over the world have been driven to madness and/or suicide as the result of such horrible torture!

Add lenova Yoga 3 to the blacklist.
Amazing for a Chinese company to buy IBM thinkpad and fuck it up so badly. Same thing as OP, small plastic power button, not recessed but protruding from the side.
