I'm speculating, but running native apps, and native linux, it should be better with resource management. All Android apps run in a Java VM. Besides, it's a prototype from a company that is built from the ground up to protect privacy. Droid and Apple are nothing but data collection and tracking devices.

I looked at the specs, and they seem to match up /w verizon's network. I guess we'll see.

Those specs aren't very good for that price. Pretty sure you can get a galaxy 10 with better specs for that price.

android/apple prices are subsidized by selling your information
so how much is your privacy worth to you?
I just got a new android phone. i get a giggle play service error everytime I make a phone call.
WHAT THE FUCK DOES GIGGLE NEED TO KNOW WHEN I MAKE A PHONE CALL!?
fuck that
LIbrem 5 could have the specs of an iPhone 1 and it's still worth $600 to me.

Do they have to build a phone from the ground up to put a different operating system on it?

Yay, I've had this on my watch list for a while now. Expensive but I'm willing to pay a premium for the privacy.

Hell yeah. Have you heard of the PinePhone yet? It might be another option. They're projecting a price of $150 - 180, I think.

I don't understand the "baseband" thing
what radio frequencies is it going to be using? ATT and Tmo use different frequencies. which ones will it work with?
