Eeek, every time one of these things comes on the field they usually turn out to be a load of junk.

The problem is it requires a (relatively) huge amount of energy to keep something hovering which is larger than a mosquito.

I mean the product pictures on the website (hover-bike.com lol), show this completely unrealistic design. Where is the fuel coming from for the powering of the fan blades? If they are battery powered then where are the batteries, you'd need absolutely huge ones just for a few minutes, and then you have the huge weight of the huge batteries AS WELL AS the person on the bike.

Seems like 10 minutes before opening the website 5 people got in a room and said, "Okay guys, we want loads of money and so we need a stupid idea to fool people into giving us free money for free to crowdfund this stupid idea that is totally stupid!"

Other guy: "HOFVER BIEKE!!"

I agree with your skepticism. It appears to be petrol powered, and to be fair there are videos showing the prototype generating significant lift unassisted. And actually, the amount of force generated by four rotters even with a small engine could be sufficient for low sustained flight. From an engineering point of view, the design and the concept are far from unrealistic. The unrealistic part is the licensing and regulation of this kind of small personal helicopter. Much like the Moller skycar - it will probably work just fine - except that it will be completely illegal.
