I wonder why they prefer their own product and make it less convenient to use a competitor..

[–] vastrightwing 0 points 23 points (+23|-0) ago

Break Google apart.

Anti-Trust.

[–] Elcycs 1 points 5 points (+6|-1) ago

Couldn't we just stop using Google?

[–] Iornukrum 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Sounds racist, if you ask me.

[–] Empire_of_the_mind 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

whatever their reasoning, it's one of many examples that will lead to their break-up. this is a classic anti-competitive behavior.

[–] harmlessgryphon 1 points 14 points (+15|-1) ago

Google makes Google things work better with Google while fucking the competitor over. Whoowuldathunkit?

[–] weezkitty 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

It wouldn't be a problem if Google products were not ubiquitous even on non-Google websites

[–] harmlessgryphon 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Google has wormed their way into pretty much everything.

[–] Cid 1 points 11 points (+12|-1) ago

Omg is that the issue? This has been driving me nuts lately.

[–] generate [S] 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago

retarded devs who put this shit on their dumb sites were "driving you nuts lately."

[–] Cid 1 points 3 points (+4|-1) ago

No, the fact I'm using a Firefox fork and these stupid things don't complete properly forcing me to do them multiple times if I want to post or access content is what drives me nuts.

[–] 4n0n3m0u5e 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago

I'm using Vivaldi and I've had the Firefox scenario play out many times. So, Captcha only cares if you're using Chrome specifically and not a Chrome-derived browser?

[–] 1F4A9 0 points 8 points (+8|-0) ago  (edited ago)

I don't think it has directly to do with the browser, but with the ads and tracking that you allow. I had the Firefox scenario on Chromium with an ad-blocker and privacy extensions, but when I disabled them the Captcha immediately was like the Chrome.

[–] watitdew 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

If you use brave you're fucked unless you disable all the built in adblocking and privacy stuff. It takes like half a dozen correct captchas sometimes.

[–] Zoldam 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Captchas are stupid.

[–] polygeek 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Maybe they can get away with a weaker CAPTCHA if you're using Chrome because they're already tracking your ass...

Also, it would be great if this was done in the Brave browser and other Chromium-derived browsers.

[–] revfelix 1 points 1 points (+2|-1) ago

Too small of a sample size. I've experienced fast and slow variants of the different types of captcha in several different browsers including Chrome. It's random as far as I can tell, or maybe something to do with the connection speed.

Bingo. It varies. Sometimes a single one, sometimes multiple tasks. Sometimes just click a few and verify, other times that annoying fading one. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep info on your IP and previous successful validations. A good test would be from multiple IP addresses over days.
