I've heard it theorized that Facebook and the like actually want social media to be regulated so they have an easier time stamping out competition.

[–] ArchmageMordenkainen 2 points 17 points (+19|-2) ago

That's always how it goes, it's called regulatory capture. Regulations don't hurt big companies who can just eat the higher cost, but they do hurt potential entrants, especially if the big company can lobby to make sure that the regulations are tailor-made to affect them the least. Why else do you think the biggest corporations are so buddy-buddy with the left, despite the left hating free markets? It's a very nice arrangement: you regulate my competitors out of business, and I'll shill for globo homo once in awhile so you won't do the same to me.

Any kind of anti-censorship legislation will be used the same way: the second Republicans don't have the white house "censorship" will be re-defined to mean "pro-white", and this legislation just becomes another weapon for the left. State-controlled radio looks like NPR. State-controlled television looks like PBS. What do you think state-controlled socially media will look like?

Anyone 'member when people had character and scruples and morals? When somebody would blow the whistle becuase it was the right thing to do? Now it is a race to the bottom.

Why did ((they)) infiltrate and destroy the Churches, again? Were people easier to corrupt without those pesky Institutions?

[–] Delacourt 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

While that's a good point, any sane regulation for Facebook would 1) only apply to companies as large as Facebook, and 2) only prohibit actions taken (such as admins banning people for their political views alone) rather than actions not taken.

[–] Hebrew-Virus 1 points 7 points (+8|-1) ago

That is how it typically works.

[–] memememema 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Well No regulation is needed they advertise themselves as a public space and last i checked back in 2014 twitter gets billions in subsides along with facebook and google. so no the laws are already clear on what they have going for them.

[–] RebelJohnny 3 points 0 points (+3|-3) ago

Of course you have, that’s a Jewish narrative created to prevent cuckservatives and lolbertarians from defending themselves. Social media can’t benefit from regulation that way because they’re already natural monopolies, meaning the free market already stamps out competition for them. Read about network effects. Any regulation then is going to be onerous.

But go ahead voaters, tell me how the free market is perfect and market failures don’t exist. Tell me on voat, since you’re all still banned from REAL social media. But god forbid we regulate against that.

Libertarianism is a suicide pact.

[–] Delacourt 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Depends entirely on the regulation offered.

I am 100% in favor of regulation of major social media companies, since only a complete idiot or someone willfully evil could mess it up.

However, if they decide to regulate all social media websites rather than just the major ones, that could lead to serious problems. Imagine Voat being under that regulation, and getting shut down because it dared to ban someone spamming tranny propaganda or something.

Regulation like this should ONLY apply to Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube and other massive monopolistic platforms.

[–] waterniggas 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago  (edited ago)

it's not that we're libertarian, it's that we don't trust the current lawmakers any more than the major corporations

would I trust a natsoc govt to regulate these megacorps? yes, absolutely, but that's not the govt we have.

[–] iLuvJews 0 points 12 points (+12|-0) ago

This is all probably social engineering chess.

First we're told that we should not disclose personal information online.

Then we're told we have to use our real names on online accounts and phone numbers to sign up.

Then we get banned and DEMAND to post our personal information online.

I submitted a fake one that names the jew. Not sure what else to do.

Take care of yourself and work outward from your family, friends, community/tribe.

[–] Fuzzychickens1 2 points 6 points (+8|-2) ago

99% of reports will be people getting silenced for calling out Zionism.

99% of reports will be ignored.

[–] Wooden_door 2 points 7 points (+9|-2) ago

100% of reports will get you put on a purge list.

[–] waterniggas 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

all the cool kids are already on one

[–] Fuzzychickens1 1 points 0 points (+1|-1) ago

[–] Fuzzycrumpkin 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Dont forget all the spam from leftist... I've heard there is already twitter campaigns.

[–] RebelJohnny 1 points 0 points (+1|-1) ago

President Kushner is probably trying to get direct reports about anti-semitism so he can help these companies crush it.

[–] Gaddafi_Was_Right 3 points 6 points (+9|-3) ago

Zognald Trumpenstein is working with Facebook to strip away the constitutional rights. but hey, keep pushing fake news patriot!

[–] RebelJohnny 2 points 4 points (+6|-2) ago

How can anybody still support Trump given his recent foreign policy moves? This is Kosher sandwich bullshit no different than what we would have gotten from Jeb Bush.

[–] Gaddafi_Was_Right 1 points 0 points (+1|-1) ago

they are either paid shills or retarded in my opinion. He was making these same very moves just after election, but the most telling sign was when he stated just post election that his talk of hillary going to jail was only campaigning rhetoric.

[–] rektumsempra 1 points 5 points (+6|-1) ago

They're gonna get overwhelmed with reports...

[–] Rabid_Robot 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Looks to me like they are amassing a ton of evidence to make sure that Facebook and the others won't be able to effectively defend themselves in court. It's a good strategy and one which could result in the social media offenders simply being dismantled.

[–] jackofdiamonds 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

All well and good, but what action is this leading to? Are they going to collect this info and then file some sort of actionable suit? Or are they just hoping that by putting it up there, companies will panic and start adjusting their policies?

[–] giganigga43 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

This serves only to pacify. Nothing will be done by them. The White House is supervising white people's genocide.
