The later model Discman offered something like a 1 minute buffered anti-skip, and had pretty decent vibration damping. Something with a constant vibration like running would legit not skip; hard drops and sudden jolts over the course of time, such as traveling down most public roads these days, would eventually cause skipping once it couldn't buffer fast enough.

Got rid of mine decades ago. Never was a big fan, batteries died too quickly and re-charging was a PITA.

I have an old Walkman cd payer that is anti-vibration so you can run without the disk skipping. It’s awesome and I don’t plan to ever get rid of it!
