Personally, I want a PoE powered monitor that has a built in battery, a phone handset cradle built into the side, an output PoE that can power a small form factor PC while delivering audio/video/data, that has a standard placement to attach to the back of the monitor. Non portable monitors will need to be at least 42" with wraparound wide screen. This new stuff is so much cheaper to make, they are ripping us off with current prices. I believed my 200 pound CRT cost a lot to make, but these little sheets of plastic draped over dollar store LED's?
PoE should power everything and have the same data functionality as USB-C. I hear the new stuff today will soon support 90 watts of power. In 5 years with less power consumption from OLED's and smaller processors drawing less power, if they can get PoE to 180 watts, it should be enough to power everything.
A battery, only needs to last 10 or 15 minutes, needs to be built into the monitor in case the power goes out. No more ground brick batteries everywhere. No more need to even be near power to set up your computer, just Ethernet. Newer laptops already last 8 to 9 hours on battery, just throw one in a monitor that powers your PC.
I want to see the end of desk phones forever. What a needless necessity. A monitor attached phone handset that functions regardless of whether a person is logged into the computer or not. A small phone screen in the handset to dial. Syncs with computer but can be used independently.
I'd also like to see an end to all flash type media. A better way to share data would be over high speed Bluetooth technology. Be able to walk by someone in the street and share a 2 hour movie in a few seconds. Turn phones into portable insta-speed flash drives.
I think storage should stop being external and just built into the boards. We should have a baseline in 5 years, meaning, something way overkill is the starting point. So, standard issue out of the box, the computer has 1 terabyte of storage. Enough to have an operating system and install a few apps, anyone wanting more would still be able to attach more. When we had massive hard drives, that was one thing, but it's so ridiculously small now, just throw a couple chips on the board so I can make it immediately functional. They should add at least a gig of RAM to everboard as well. Good really high speed stuff. When was the last time you heard of RAM going bad?
Anyway, what predictions or wish lists do you white males have?

Makers and market will stall. Too many chips to justify advanced production. White males well didn't you hear? [ ] by the Dems.
