That's why they just destroyed Linux. Steam/Valve is using it as a base for their OS which would have allowed a huge number of reluctant Windows-using hold-outs to migrate to an open source OS. Linux (and it's offspring) would have gone through a major developmental phase as a result of such a massive user base increase, which in turn would have sent the increasingly gimped Windows platform into it's much deserved grave and killed the idea of anyone "owning" and dictating the nature and functionality of an OS forever (except in the minds of MacFags, but there's no saving them in general).
What are you talking about? You can always use an external HDD as your primary drive, build a Faraday Cage around your PC with a small opening for an ethernet cord and a trustworthy router.
They are indeed trying to infiltrate FOSS but due to the nature of FOSS it is difficult to implement any backdoors (but not impossible so your observations are still valid).
The problem with an OS that is well designed is that it has a good variety of user-friendly features (see LM19). This means more code. More code = less likely for any single individual to fully audit their system.
It sucks because unless programming languages are as easy to read as English no one realistically knows 100% of what is happening in their system apart from a few really dedicated people in this world (like RMS).
I look forward to your response to see if you are a M$ shill or a genuine critic of modern-day FOSS (I won't be able to really tell otherwise).
but people are not forced to use centralized technology, they are choosing to use centralized technology. How does presenting them with more of what they don't want and will not use solve any problem?
Although it sounds idealistic, yoy have too take this news with a pinch of salt. First, the cabal will not allow this, prepare for his sudden accident in the coming future. If he doesn't get jk'ed then he is working for them.
This is the opposite of what I want the internet to become. It's also the opposite of giving me control over my data. The article is terribly written, but from what it does say it looks like a deliberate concentration of all my data int one conveniently slurped package

I'm running Linux now. Doesn't seem destroyed to me.

Combine it with a TempleOS ring 0 - style OS, and you're onto somthing. Hard to trust software coming out of cucked 'learning institutions' though.
[–] Atarian ago
Why do you think it's safer to use an OS that runs entirely on ring 0?
Not criticising, just genuinely curious

I was waiting to see where crypto currency comes into play with this idea, and was pleasantly surprised.
[–] belphegorsprime ago
Where does it come into play?

It doesn't.

I don't know. But healthy skeptism is a must.

He should make it less abstract and more human understandable if he wants to succeed.
