I used to be like you. Then one day i installed linux and i havent looked back. It's SO MUCH better. Some things in life you can only learn by doing. So do it

Kubuntu for me for the last 10 years. Wonderfully configurable and "just works." 14.04LTS is my current but updating to 18.04LTS (long-term support) soon.

For stability, avoid the xx.10 releases -- they're "bleeding edge dress rehearsals" for the next LTS release.
