2? TWC, COX, Comcast. There are probably more small ISP's I am sure but that 's 3 right there. Am I misunderstanding you?
I agree with leasing service though. We have seen it work in cellular, I myself use usmobile on the TMO network and it's a massive savings from when I Was with TMO proper. They lost me when they scammed a family member then charged them for the return, cancelled my business account the next day and went with USM
We have also seen it work in my state of Maryland, where there are about 50 or so, maybe more or less, power companies. I pay about 4 dollars extra month for a provider that uses wind, and it's delivered over the lines that Exelon (the big power company before this was allowed ) lines. Line sharing works.

2 techs (not companies). Phone and cable for wired service. Wireless is a nightmare.
Line sharing used to be required, sadly is not anymore.
