No, not Mint. I've explained it many times before. They are a horrible choice.

They are an excellent desktop distro for beginners, as most of the drawbacks wouldn't affect a new user anyway. In my case, it was my intro to linux via dual-boot back when it was still version 13, and still is my daily driver now. The only reason I would bother jumping ship is to get away from systemd coming to Mint in the next major release (19), which is a decision of principle, and doesn't, again, affect a new user.

I hated mint too, but noobs seem to love it for some weird reason.

Just install Debian.
