VPN service Private Internet Access has twice proven their no logging claim in US courts, satisfying all requirements to prove they hold no such records and therefore cannot respond to a subpoena https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-providers-no-logging-claims-tested-in-fbi-case-160312/

In my opinion Linux Mint. It's very easy to install and has Windows-like desktop environment. Mint uses systemd though.

I like to keep an Ubuntu live disk on a 128 gb flash drive. that way I never have to 'borrow' someone else's system. my main system is win7 becuase dx11 and up to date fully featured nvidia firmware. for home user type stuff I like linux Mint which is what my parent's laptops run.

I think the best (and only real) method to combat this trend, is to stop supporting the assholes. No more supporting Windows, no more supporting abusive software companies who pull stunts like these; https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/pamzqk/fs-labs-flight-simulator-password-malware-drm

I know that there are millions of sheep who happily accept whatever crap that corporate suits force upon them and still ask for more, but I refuse to go through life that way.
