There are lots of self hosted options. None are as easy as signing up for an account on some free, public service, but that’s always the cost of freedom.

Yeah, it's funny and a little upsetting to think that Microsoft buying GitHub out might actually end up improving GitHub!

We'll still continue to not use it, for the same reasons.

I suspect they are going to start implementing sneaky/mandatory ways of getting their own version of Google Analytics into people's code bases. They will end up spreading their infection of bloated incompetent DRM-laden thought control into other people's code bases.
