You mistake ineptitude for malfeasance. These shills understand the effect of wage arbitrage: it lowers wages. People like Zuckerberg and Gates, et al. want immigration or H1B visas to lower their cost of doing business AND to shift costs to taxpayers. Because flooding the labor market causes wages to go down and tax collection to go down, there is a greater burden on social services. More citizens collect unemployment, etc.

Immigration is a lose lose proposition. Our wages go down and tax burden goes up. You can't make the argument stick we are importing highly skilled immigrants because I work with them in the trenches. That argument is b.s.

I do think completely eliminating H1B visas is a net positive. There is zero need. You may be able to make a case for a dozen outliers but that would be the extent.

It is a war on the middle class, much like what was going on in the South prior to the Civil War.

You'd have to constrain the TN, OPT and other visas as well. Techies can get in on those classes of visa pretty easily.

OPT is just 1-2 years temporary working visa. Not a problem at all since you can't extend it and no way to green card.

Nobody from all kinds of political ideology should consider it a problem, especially when comparing to the illegal immigration, anchor babies, h1b, etc.

I think we disagree there, when looking at the landscape today. With that said, as automation further displaces labor in the short-term future, your suggestion becomes more accurate.

There are other visa programs available. Basically the only reason the H1B program exists is to lower labor rates. As such, it is completely beneficial to eliminate H1Bs. Most people here on a H1B visa is here illegally anyways. Most H1Bs are illegal aliens per the laws outlined for allowing H1Bs.

There is no down side to eliminating H1Bs.
