Welp, time for me to start building my own hardware and blocking google from everything and anything related to me.

If you pull this off, for real, you'll get rich. There is a ton of demand for uncensored hardware. Even leftists like EFF or GNU types would buy it. All sorts of people actually.

It's pretty hard to find an Android alternative.

While there are some alternatives, none are perfect. We need more alternatives built from the ground up to be better morally and ethically. The barrier of entry for producing technology we actually own is insanely high. IMO, Android is the least of our worries, when the entire mobile ecosystem is pozzed from the ground up.

If you really need a cell phone, get a dumb phone, or Purism's 'librem 5' which is at the very least a step in the right direction, as it runs linux, has killswitches, and runs on mostly opensource hardware. Sadly still, I have reservations.

Raspberry pi with a battery, gsm module, microphone, speaker, and touch screen. You'll need to do some very basic programming to set up an interface with the gsm module, but other than that, you pretty much slap it all together like legos.

It'll look pretty retarded, but that's (probably) under $200 of parts for a linux based DIY cell phone.

Don't need one. If you don't trust your phone, don't say anything you wouldn't say in a court of law while in the same room as it. Ideally, stick it in the fridge. Terrible for the battery, but it guarantees you won't have service.

Just get a cheap phone you can root.
