LOL, the balls on this guy. I wish there were more people like this that challenged large asshole companies protected by the government granted monopolies protected by patents and other legal bullshit. The epipen fiasco could have been completely avoided if patents had a much smaller window or were completely eliminated.

Seriously. An epipen is nothing more than an auto injector. Functionality equivalent to other auto injectors that deliver different drugs.

[–] prairie 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago

No, no, it's totally different. The others inject other drugs. The PettiPen injects whateverthefuck. Totally different, therefore a different patentable item. /s

Fuck IP laws that protect companies like this. This isn't free market. It's the worst of socialism and capitalism mashed together

Capitalism's keep it all greed, with socialism, the goverment will protect you from competition. Left and right should be side by side pitchforks in hand.

Does the auto industry expect me to buy a new car ever time my alternator goes out? No! So fuck off when I try to replace my screen or speaker.

Fuck Apple for this shit and more.

I've used Macs since forever and an iPhone 4s and 5s, but I'll be damned if I ever buy any Apple product again. They've become what they displaced. HP/Xerox whatever. Jobs used to call those guys toner-heads; Apple is just selling throwaway shit now.

Remember the good old Mac Pro tower. You could open it and and upgrade anything. Now they sell the fucking iMac Pro where the screen is glued on. You can't even replace the CR2032 coin cell for the RTC without destroying the damn thing.

Fuck them.

iPod 5th gen (first video iPod), was the last Apple product, that I ever owned. In fact, still do. Bought a bunch of batteries for it, and have a box of replacement parts, that I got from eBay, for dirt cheap. Swapped out the built-in HDD for an adapter that takes a 128GB SD card. Working on that thing is just like working on a miniaturized, home-brew ATX pc. Best MP3 player ever made, hands down. I fucking love that thing. I'll never get rid of it. I'd also never buy whatever the fuck their newest iPod is— some iPhone-lite.

Apple died, in spirit, when Steve Jobs died. Now it's just a walking corpse, maintained by its already established momentum. It will be a slow and drawn-out fall, but its inevitability is indisputable. Not unless another belligerent, autistic, manic, crazy genius takes the helm, and soon.

I have an 80gb classic. Should have bought the 160gb.

I've heard about the SD adapter mod but haven't needed to do that yet as my drive is perfectly fine. Maybe when it dies.

Don't ever buy the iPod touch. The battery is shit. My wife bought me the retina touch back when it came out, it just sits in a dock and streams from a server. Take it out and it dies.

For flac files I just use a Linux phone with no SIM. 64gb micro SD card. Works great with my headphones.

Apple's iPods still had their proprietary, ever-changing encrypted protocol. Buying an Android device was amazing. To put music on you just mount it and copy files over.

iPhone 4 was the only thing I've ever owned by Apple, haven't owned a thing from them since.

TL; DW: iPhone front glass breaks but LCD underneath is fine. Repair place sends just the screen (broken glass glued to LCD) to China, there they replace front glass (refurbish it) then ship it back. Customs seizes it claiming it's a counterfeit because the ribbon cable on to the LCD still has a tiny Apple logo on it.

Which is still some horseshit. That's not the part that got replaced. If I put in a new video card on a PC, because the POS, on-board intel one, got fried— that doesn't mean that I'm counterfeiting i7s. Hell, if I take all the innards of a PC, and put them in another case, because the HP one that it came in sucks ass, does that mean that I'm now selling counterfeit HP PCs? But what can you expect? Legal geniuses don't work at fucking customs, that's for sure.

It'd be like someone changing a part in their car, then selling it and having it seized because they didn't remove all the car brand logos.

Apple originally was an innovator but now they just produce the same thing that is way overpriced and always has been overpriced assembled and created by basically labor at slave prices.

innovator

Never was, just straight up stole technology that already existed, starting with the GUI, which Xerox came up with that Apple stole

They did, though. Seems like you're confusing the word "inventor" with "innovator". Xerox was sitting on a world-changing, life-altering gold-mine— and they just sat on it, because they're un-visionary retards, that didn't realize the absolutely mind-shattering technology (for the time) that their scientists were developing.

Apple really damn-well was an innovator. They took something that was the rough-sketch, a possibility, of things to come— and they shaped it in to something that literally built a multi-trillion dollar industry, out of nothing. I wouldn't take that accomplishment lightly. They damn-well were the greatest innovators, of their time. That's the rub, though: of their time. Their time has passed.

People really don't get this. Apple didn't even invent the cell phone. People like to think only the iphone exists.

Now that Apple lost their innovator (Jobs) and replaced him with their supply-chain guru (Cook), Apple is incapable of innovating anything new. All they have left is Jony Ive to pretty up current technologies . . .

This makes me so sad. Jonathan Ive is such wasted potential. I can't help but think that he's bored out of his mind, working at Apple, the way it is, now. Jobs was the whip that cracked these fuckers in to becoming the world-renowned professionals that they are, today. Without him, it's like watching a flock of sheep trying to herd themselves.

The premium on the products used to be justifiable. "It just works", remember that slogan? There was a level of quality, that Apple was renowned for. It's the pillar that their brand-name stands on, to this day. That hasn't been the case, for a long time, now.

Well Cook seems to be the Maximize profits no matter what you have to do CEO. It was warranted at one time but then they went to China and took the lowest bid instead of the best manufacturer and mainboards that lose circuits because of breaks because of flexing of the phone in the pocket. Hell they should go instead of smallness "thinness" concentrate on reliablility and quality and double the size because they can't compete with a flipphone for size because of the screen and who cares if it fits in your pocket if it has such a large battery "thicker and safer and holds a greater charge" because their phone lasts a day or more on a charge no matter what you do. They are concentrating on the wrong stuff and overpricing the meaningless stuff and lower quality with no excuse.

A fucking Nexus 5 runs the latest Android just fine, and out performs any iPhone of its era. Apple is pathetic, in its current state. If they actually went bankrupt, this time around, I wouldn't even be mad.
