Well, I like to think they're not near death either, but it doesn't hurt to be a little paranoid about it!

You should have a good backup strategy already in place, tested, and enforced!

1 - 2 - 3!

Those are the backup rules!

Heh... I violate them too. I do keep off site archives of important things.

Ditto here, but it's encrypted and I am bandwidth challenged at home, and do all my file transfers at the office, just because of what a stubborn shit I am. I HATE AT&T and Cox cable, and those are my only options where I bought this house, damn it! Tethering off the work phone works fine for what I do here, though. SSH is not all that bandwidth intensive... although my shenanigans on this site and others add up pretty significantly.

Soon enough, I'll be getting stupid DSL again, though - as Ma thinks she NEEDS a land line, so I might as well.

Man, speaking of, her POD just arrived, and we offloaded probably a literal ton of potted plants. The cat had a great time smelling everything in there and wiping her face on all the things. I guess she needs to let Ma's cats preemptively know that all this stuff is hers now!

Hmm... come to think of it, only most of the data on those drives are in the cloud. The stuff I've added has not been backed up aside from to portable small USB drives, but those hardly count, as they're nowhere near complete, but just used for convenience. I need to redo the whole mess once I have real bandwidth to the house, and I kind of look forward to doing so. Speaking of, if you're looking for obscure movie or TV rips, I... uh... might know where to find them for you.
