That would be fine if we all had enough land to live off of and the government left us alone. However, an industrial society needs an industrial approach to labor. And that means strong unions that can negotiate decent pensions and minimum vacation times and wages that can support a family. These are not functions of capitalism.

You don't understand the adversarial relationship between employee and employer. Unions are the reason the US isn't a sweatshop country. Labor is overly abundant and thus worthless. It's only through the power of unions that it can be made to have any value. The alternative is that the excess workers are killed; that is a popular solution that has been applied for thousands of years. Before they were killed via war. These days it's via genocide.

We built machines to free us from labor, not make us work even harder to compete with them. So yes, insist that I'm a lazy piece of shit. Keep marching faster into your mass grave when the capitalist figures you're just obsolete factory equipment.
