Some time ago I promoted Proton as a good alternative email but today I am giving it up. It is completely unreliable. My posts fail to be delivered at the destination even though when you go to the web browser it is marked as "delivered".
The Android app has a lot more failures than the web browser to deliver. I have an impression that it is caused because it loses network connection when it is sending. In a lot of cases attachments are lost in the email. The email gets received but has NO attachment.
Another thing that happened is that receiving mail ended up in SPAM folders. So I never noticed them. How can a reply on an email I have sent end being marked as SPAM? And I guarantee that I never ever marked this email address as SPAM.
When I tested, in the beginning it worked great but I have the impression that the quality goes down dramatically. I wonder if they basically quality test if they do updates.
So I stop using it, even the free version because I can not trust it that it sends/receives.

I've never had an issue with ProtonMail.
I have a signficiant amount of experience with Enterprise e-mail administration, and the only time ProtonMail has ever delivered items to my "spam" box is when the sending server had either a misconfigured reverse DNS or a bad DKIM signature. In all of those cases if I manually remove the object to the inbox it whitelists it in the future automatically (unlike Gmail..).
ProtonMail does it's job correctly and follows best practices for e-mail routing to prevent me from receiving things I don't wish to see. Additionally, it's higher level of security (due to it being a secure service by design) has allowed it to catch things Gmail would have let slip through.
This sounds like the issue exists between the keyboard and chair. I suggest you go back to Gmail if you aren't technically competent enough to handle a real e-mail service.

Between Protonmail and Protonmail it may work. But the issues here are between ProtonMail and other mails. I think it is related to bad networks. It is not normal that image is sent through ProtonMail Android app and it ends up delivered without the attachment but with the text.
I remember that up until end of 2017 ago it worked pretty stable but last few months many missed mails that are indicated a sent, but never delivered. The email is correct because I get a reply on the first message and any other replies I now send end up into a black hole. It is in my ProtonMail account sent box but never delivered. Also not in the recipients spam box.
It is no point in being secure if randomly fails te deliver or receive.

I use the ProtonMail android app and never have an issue sending multiple attachments a day, both in-line and as attachments.
It's quite possible your recipient is getting the e-mail stripped as a security policy at either the mail server or client system level (antivirus, etc).
