As a Canadian I agree.

As a Canadian I'm disappointed in our leadership.

[–] Dfens [S] 0 points 22 points (+22|-0) ago

I know. Canada was kicking our (US) asses just a few years back. The value of the Canadian dollar was shooting up. Now the place is going down the tubes economically. Americans should be for America first and Canadians should be for Canada first. Nothing else works.

[–] Stayedclassy 1 points 21 points (+22|-1) ago

Maybe if we had a Canadian running the country rather than a Cuban Canada would be a higher priority.

[–] voltronsdicks 0 points 10 points (+10|-0) ago

What a fucking revolutionary time we live in where taking care of your own home before daring to advise others how to run their homes becomes a revolutionary act.

[–] Plavonica 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

What? Competition? In Capitalism? Don't you know meritocracy never works?

[–] analfaveto 1 points 10 points (+11|-1) ago

So the commies are pro-free trade and free-market now and the conservatives are pro-protectionism? The world is upside down.

[–] malloryquinn 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Thoughtful and peaceful lefties want a nuclear war with Russia, and even shout racial slurs to conservative women of colour.

The world truly has gone mad.

[–] Scald85 1 points -1 points (+0|-1) ago

Free trade creates wealth at the expense of rooted, established, steady legacy industries that can support generations and nations. Without that stability, the wealth of free trade is ultimately routed into a welfare state as a shitty substitute for landmark core assets and it eventually leads to feminism and a disastrous long term collapse of a civilization. The cheap pop from free trade only appeared beneficial because it could be rolled into so many technological revolutions that have now come and gone, and now the tide is out and we can see who was naked the entire time so to speak. It's an obsolete ideology.

Yes, sincere conservatives are protectionist, anti-usury, and monarchist. The (((neocons))) confused things for a very long time.

[–] no-hurry-no-pause 5 points -1 points (+4|-5) ago

So the commies are pro-free trade and free-market now and the conservatives are pro-protectionism?

Commies have ALWAYS been pro free trade.

Conservatives have ALWAYS been against trading with commies.

The world is upside down.

No it's not. Youve just been brainwashed.

[–] Maroonsaint 1 points 2 points (+3|-1) ago

Yea your Canadian guy is such a pussy. I was watching a couple speeches just the way he moves he’s begging to get bitch slapped

[–] Titus-of-Voat 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

And I thought Obama was a little bitch.

[–] voltronsdicks 1 points 2 points (+3|-1) ago

Trump boner! #MAGA!

[–] GoatEmperorTrump 1 points 3 points (+4|-1) ago

Everyone wants what we have because the US is the greatest country on Earth.

If you don’t like the deals we offer, then kindly, go eat a bag of dicks.

[–] AmaleksHairyAss 3 points 17 points (+20|-3) ago

Why is this in /v/technology?

[–] coopzy 1 points 4 points (+5|-1) ago

Because twitter is advanced future tech

[–] ginx2666 1 points 3 points (+4|-1) ago

Because v/technology is just an extension - or more accurately a tumor - of v/politics. It's all about pushing agenda, not tech news.

[–] Ghetto_Shitlord 2 points -1 points (+1|-2) ago

Nailed it!

[–] Slayfire122 1 points 3 points (+4|-1) ago

I'm guessing he forgot to change the subverse.

[–] InterDigitated 1 points 0 points (+1|-1) ago

why did people downvoat you for this?

[–] cuello_rojo 1 points 9 points (+10|-1) ago

Notice we're not talking about gun control now. That's no accident.

[–] ElderZosima 1 points 1 points (+2|-1) ago

They want us to get tunnel vision and just listen to whatever shit they're talking about in the moment instead of reflecting on important topics and events in the past. They know they can just keep distracting people with new shit until we get so complacent on our old opinions that nothing gets done. That's not how progress is made, that's not how America will become great again. We need to solve our problems, not simply move onto the next topic before the conversation can be finished.

[–] Konran 1 points 0 points (+1|-1) ago

That's mighty fine thinking for a red_neck.

[–] basedmangod2015 4 points 4 points (+8|-4) ago

this is a stupid idea thats going to end badly.

[–] redditaccountlogin 5 points 1 points (+6|-5) ago

If it's implemented. I'm starting to think Trump is just a big, dumb reality show persona for everyone to yell at while his administration does whatever they do. This tweet doesn't even make sense.

[–] whipcracker 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Name country that is less protectionist than USA?

[–] notafattypants 2 points -1 points (+1|-2) ago

The average person has no concept of how international trade works so that makes them 100% competent to make bad decisions without a care in the world.

[–] Yasir9717 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Free trade is the optimal system for a one world government where all the rules and regulations are the same and equally enforced around the globe.

[–] Dfens [S] 1 points 1 points (+2|-1) ago

That's the only way "free trade" works is if you have one world government.

[–] BlackSheepBrouhaha 2 points 0 points (+2|-2) ago

Voluntary actions between individuals around the globe don't require a government.

[–] RedPillPopper 1 points 3 points (+4|-1) ago  (edited ago)

EU is targeting Harleys, Levis, and bourbon -- items distinctly and uniquely American unlike aluminum and steel. They are the ones starting the trade war. Let's see how socialist countries can compete and stack up to raw capitalism in this when the playing field is even.

[–] Skankhunt1 2 points 1 points (+3|-2) ago

talks about raw capitalism Government trade intervention

[–] IlIlIlIl1Il 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

BS Argument. The government is here to protect a variety of interests, and one of them is business.

Japan kicked our asses in the automobile industry in the 80's because they subsidized Toyota and Honda. America followed suit and still does. Responding to foreign government trade tactics is exactly why government exists to begin with. If they did not do this, we would not really need a federal government for much more than a military. The states and businesses could handle the rest.

[–] ginx2666 4 points -1 points (+3|-4) ago  (edited ago)

Yeah, we need more loud faggots around. It's not like we have enough of those!

Overpriced, shite denim.

Okay, this one is legit. Best pain thinner around.

Besides, it's not like EU is getting rid of core American exports - obesity rates and ignorance levels on Old Continent are record breaking.

[–] MarcusA 1 points 1 points (+2|-1) ago  (edited ago)

Way to argue economic policy. How about some actual thoughts? Americans control the dietary habits of an entire continent. The entire world is playing unfair with trade yet the US is the bad guy? Trump is the only politician to even try to do something about it but youre hate blinds you.

[–] carlip 2 points 3 points (+5|-2) ago

Im not even sure what message this is trying to convey.

[–] lorlipone 0 points 12 points (+12|-0) ago

That many of our trade deals are basically transferring wealth out of the country, not in. Also that we've got a lot of "unflexed muscle" to help balance that.

[–] Caesarkid1 0 points 11 points (+11|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Free trade is the optimal system for a one world government where all the rules and regulations are the same and equally enforced around the globe. We currently do not have a one world government with equal laws and enforcement around the globe and as such free trade will always present a net loss for countries which have more strict or advanced laws and mechanisms of enforcement.

Edit: Western trade policies fail because westerners treat other nations and people as moral equals when this equality of morals does not exist. Case in point, China's complete disregard for copyright laws.

[–] KEKjudo 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

He’s saying it’s a bargaining chip. That the other side is benefiting tremendously off trade with us, and that we don’t need it (so he is saying). So either they capitulate elsewhere to demands of ours or we build our own industry that allows us to now compete

[–] HappyMealBullshit 3 points -2 points (+1|-3) ago

You might want to learn basic economics then. What he's saying is not hard to understand or complicated in the slightest.

[–] carlip 2 points 2 points (+4|-2) ago

ok enlightened one, please explain "get cute" in the Hayek sense, or Keynesian if you float that way.

Also fill in the blank for me too.

#1. Down 100 billion

#2. Dont trade

#3. ????

#4. Profit.

[–] piratse 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

So many voaters and reddit shills talking out of their fucking ass about trade. This is something that many of you need to read and understand: https://www.investopedia.com/articles/investing/080615/china-owns-us-debt-how-much.asp

NO, it doesn't cover trade directly. What it will hopefully do is teach some of you a bit about how WE are the big fucking dogs in the world of economics. Not China. Not Germany. Not the UK. The USA is the top of the heap right now. Go learn about the fake news of "huirrrrr China owns the USA!!!" And yes, before you cry, the link is an elementary explanation of the situation. But I feel that's all most of you can handle.
