I worked in a govt contract. Unless you are content doing absolutely nothing all day, and taking 3 weeks to do 10 minutes of work, it is not the place for you. I was told i was a star worker, even though my work performance was on par with a hibernating lemur.

Govt contract is perfect if you are lazy and you want to live as a retiree.

If it pays well, why not? You can always work some freelance jobs on the side. Especially as programmer you'll have plenty of time contributing to the society through things like open source projects.
