Well, reddit was IS turning into a giant SJW hive hug box, a lot of that is because a lot of mods/admins were SJW's themselves. We need a way to prevent mod/admin abuse here and to make sure that people with clear biases, political beliefs, shills, etc do not take over again. There needs to be some type of power balance system where users can override mods/admins and potentially kick them out if they start abusing their authority.

I could be wrong, but I think a part of it was that there were multiple cases of one person being the mod of 10+ popular subreddits

Sometimes 100 or more. No one can be an effective mod with that many. At that point they just become a stifle against dissent.

You're dead on. You just let one of those mods in that already moderates 5-6 different subreddits, and they bring on their friends. Then you blast the subreddit with spam, cause inter-mod drama, or any number of ways to tank a subreddit and the existing mods leave. Then you fill it up with your buddies, and you've "captured" it. And the subscribers are totally at the new mod's mercy, because there's no way to kick them out. All you can do is make a new subreddit and start the process over again.

The biggest issue stems from organized, group voting and attempts to control.

One thing I really dislike is using PM's to communicate about things that should be discussed out in the open in a thread.

How would that work though? Everyone is going to agree and all mods are going to have their own opinions, won't that just create flame wars and censorship? Something Voat is against?

Not going to lie, I am not sure yet, but we need something to prevent and stop abusive mods. We have seen what happens to mods power tripping on reddit and we do not want any of that. One thing I would implement is limiting how many subs a single mod can run. Some mods on reddit had 100's of subs under their belt and that was crazy. Mods should not be able to do more than a few.

Maybe a button to report, mod abuse. The button would only work for people who have been on the sub for a while and has a good CCP on the sub/voat.

I'll start boxing up whiskey, edibles, cigarettes, cigars, and cans of chew. If someone could provide the physical address of the admins ill start mailing out the care packages post haste. They should be used to ward off all SJW types maybe I'll through in some bud lite as well, because nothing says I could give a shit about social equality like a can of chew, a bud lite, and shot of whiskey. Am right?
