Welcome to the new world.

They've made it pretty clear that you're gonna be fighting your own computer for the rest of your life if you stick with Windows.

They've made it clear that they own everything that you do or produce. OS be damned.

Forget about OS. If you don't realize that your very life itself is owned by and depended on the mood of some jews somewhere on earth you are a fool.

Linux really isn't as bad as many would have you believe. If you're a relatively competent Windows user, it may be worth a look.

It's bad for people that lack personal responsibility or the desire to be free, and I think that's a good thing. Those people can migrate to Apple or stay with Windows.

I've been using Linux since Windows 98, it's never fucked me over, absolutely love it.

I've been trying to sum up this mind set for decades in discussions with people. You just did it perfectly in a sentence. Nice job.

I find it easier than Windows

My laptop running Ubuntu still can't read a scan from my network scanner.

Linux is great but all the new tech is specifically made to only work with windows 10. This is how they will get people to convert. Something needs to be done about it.

great, pick up a copy of C programming language and get something done about it.

Great idea. Just ordered a copy of it from my local computer store bestbuy.com. They only had 2 in stock thank god I got one.

This. People always want the other guy to do something about it instead of taking the initiative themselves.

Dell and System 76 sell Linux laptops. You can also run Chrome books in developer mode and run Ubuntu instead of Chrome OS.

I dont recommend System 76 if you want to take your laptop out of the house. The build quality is flimsy, which is concerning considering the high value of the components housed in it.

Can you list some of these things that Linux isn't able to do anything with? This has been cited many times before, and in most cases Linux has managed to get around it one way or another. From what I've seen they seem to be trying to concentrate their efforts on killing off Windows 7/8/8.1. Users of those OS's are a greater immediate threat, and given that there is no source code available to the public it's much harder to modify them to address the needs of new architectures.

In a VM...

What's really crazy is that people still think this company has their best interests at heart after the GWX fiasco and the way Windows 10 tries it's damdest to get you to sign in with a Microsoft ID and to accept all the privacy invading goodness.

Some people just never learn, I guess.

I'll never be under the yolk of Windows again, even if I have to reduce my computing to microcontrollers and 80x25 text terminals.

Article says it's an insider preview with a bug that makes some elements invisible (you can tab through them to make them visible).

But they'll probably do it mandatory at a later time so it's still awful.

[–] weezkitty 0 points 9 points (+9|-0) ago

The fact that the element exists at all is enough to say "nope". I've had enough Websites trying to get my phone number. I don't need a PC operating system doing it too

[–] Salbuchi_2019 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

I agree and if it ever becomes mandatory I'll workaround it with a crack or something similar. Although most likely I won't update Windows.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; anyone who uses Windows 10 voluntarily, in their own home setup, is a retarded fucking nigger and deserve to get rounded up into a FEMA camp.

but muh gamer, i need my call of dooty

Don't care, you're even more of a retarded nigger actually if you let yourself be cucked like that.

I have winduhs 7 on /dev/sdb1 for games, and it doesn't know my wireless password. /dev/sdb2 and up are for preserving data when /dev/sdb1 needs the inevitable reinstall a few months down the line.

Lots of retards here who don’t understand how a windows install works. It’s run in an operating system known as a Pre-Installation Environment. Windows PE for short. It’s an extremely stripped down version of windows, designed to be as small as possible because it has to run entirely within RAM.

To do that, it needs to load generic drivers fir video, input, usb, network, drive compatibility instructions as well as a gui and scripted instructions for the install.

It is difficult as fuck to make one that works. I’ve done as part of a previous job and even worked directly with Dell’s development team to do this and even then, I managed a specific build configuration that Dell couldn’t make. It took me 190 builds over 3 minths to get it right. Let that fucking sink in for a minute - 50 gigs of files generated every work day and testing each build on 6 different computers. It is extremely easy to overlook something or fuck up things like basic driver support and, as we see in the article, this is a bug. The skip button is there, just not rendered properly.

Don’t get me wrong. The very idea that they want you phone number is nauseating but sometimes a cigar is just a fucking cigar and a bug is just a bug.

Granted, if they hadn’t tried every shitty trick in the book to force 10 on everyone, people might not automatically assume something nefarious.

How much does M$ pay you?

Also, see all the live Linux distros? It doesn't seem hard to make that.

Microsoft doesn't pay me shit. I'm explaining how the windows installation environment works. If you don't like facts, that's your fuckin' problem, retard.
