Every time a fucking thread comes up about duckduckgo all you fuckers try to turn it into " What is my favorite search engine pissing contest ".

Look you assholes... What does the question say up there? did it say " What is the best search enginge? " NO IT DOES NOT. Your answer does nothing to address the original question " How many of yall are using DuckDuckGo exclusively instead of Google? "

STOP Hijacking the fucking thread and answer the fucking question or don't comment at all!

** If you dont like Google search results. Dont use Startpage.**

StartPage acts as an intermediary between you and Google, so your searches are completely private. StartPage submits your query to Google anonymously, then returns Google results to you privately.

tried it and it works for searching basic shit.. trying to find very specific or obscure topics google is still the way to go.

I personally don't like the search results it gives me but you do make valid points.

Searx.me works fine. Basically what I do is I type something I want to search for example: "chemical free lunch boxes au". Notice I put the country after my search which then populates my results that I am after. If I put "chemical free lunch boxes" it will still provide me results but from US, UK and all sorts of other countries which I'm not interested of.

interesting crap. usualy first thing i search when i hear of a new serch engine is to search child porn and i gotta admit that this got the best results from all the socialistic shitbags engines i used to search craps till now. i also found some good porn shit among others.

DDG has a peering agreement with Yahoo, making it arguably just as bad as Google.

Use Startpage, or hell - fucking Yandex.

[–] clamhurt_legbeard 0 points 14 points (+14|-0) ago

DDG ditched yahoo.

DDG actually uses yandex now.

Doesn’t Startpage anonymously query Google for your search, y’know, the company that has been proven to be manipulating search results to fit the leftist narrative? Not that DDG is any better…

It's an aggregate, so while Googles search results are part of Startpage's results, they aren't limited to Googles results and thus evade Googles censorship.

I don't get the usual barrage of (badly) disguised advertisement when I search with StartPage instead of "googling" it, but it's only a week since I started using it.

Yandex is unbelievably good for Russian sites but still "meh" for English results. I wish they improved the English results, then they would easily compete with google.

They shared the technical details of the peering agreement and it still maintains user privacy and doesn't allow yahoo to track you.

Don't use anything exclusively anymore.

This is probably the best choice. They all have problems. DuckDuckGo has questionable privacy, Google's problems are obvious, Bing is probably not much better (maybe worse since it's Microsoft, depending on how you rank the two companies), others can be sparse or niche. Having a variety gives you options and second opinions.

Agree!

DuckDuckGo for everyday use. Google AND Bing for specific and obscure stuff, but then thats mostly the hardcore physical sciences. And yes I seem to be leaning more towards Bing than Google these days.

Bing is much better for porn

Me - their results are more like the old pre-evil Google

Since around 2011 - I was one of the original shills. The only thing I use Google for these days (not counting Youtube) is the occasional Google Image search.

My main email that's for actual grown up real life shit is hosted on a domain I own through a reasonably trustworthy provider. For things related to shitposting I have various emails through providers like AOL and Yandex.

Email encryption is a waste of time for 99% people because you're not going to convince your contacts to adopt it.

Have been staunchly anti-Google for a few years now, though YouTube is hard to replace (never see ads, lost my account when they forced Gmail requirement). I don't even use Google on my Android phone; ownCloud (Contacts/Files/Calendar) + FDroid/Amazon (Apps) + HERE WeGo (Maps) + Fennec FDroid (Browser).

Edit: To answer the question, I do use DDG as my primary search engine on all platforms (PC, phone, tablet).

I've never heard of Here WeGo? Is it worth getting? I'm currently using OsmAnd due to it's offline maps and navigation.

It was developed by Nokia and works great IMO. I tried OsmAnd once and deleted it same day. YMMV.

Have you tried OpenMaps? what do you think of that?

[–] In_Cog_Nito 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Sorry, I have not tried OpenMaps. I originally tried Mapfactor Navigator and hated it, then discovered HERE and have liked it enough that I haven't bothered trying other map apps (save OsmAnd, which I didn't care for).

Android is open source. There's multiple pseudoforks that have nothing to do with Google.

I get that it's difficult to understand, but I have CyanogenMod (now LineageOS) installed without GApps (Google Apps). There is no proprietary Google code in CyanogenMod as it's based on AOSP, the Android Open Source Project.
