My i7 1155 CPU hackintosh always has cycles to spare and the card runs 3 monitors. I mostly do programming so it's way more than enough. If I was doing priemere at home ... I wonder ...
What do you use your machine for?
One thing I can say for sure about MacBook pros ... They always feel good to carry and to type on for me. Almost every other laptop I've looked at was definitely cheaper but just didn't have that craftsmanship. Also, although I like Linux as a server OS, I can't get over how unpolished it is for a desktop.

I use it for everything. Work and home. So anywhere from word processing, image editing, graphic design, matlab scripting (this is where the performance was most noticeable) , data processing, games, movies...etc. Windows and linux run very well on it.
