Indeed. If you want a shabby slapdash spyware filled OS which is the bastard offspring of CP/M and VMS then Windows is fine I'm sure, but if you want a proper UNIX machine then a Mac is still the best choice. More to the point, despite what this article says, Macs are still the best laptops if only because they're a fully supported UNIX and they don't lie about the battery life so when they say they'll get 10 hours, they'll get 10 hours whereas DELL claims 9 hours and actually delivers 5. http://www.which.co.uk/news/2017/03/which-laptop-battery-tests-manufacturers-overstate/

For a laptop, Mac has always been my choice. I have a trashcan at work and a hackintosh at home. The trashcan is sexy, smooth but the graphics card is retarded. You need thunderbolt displays basically to milk it for it's worth. My hackintosh is an i7 lga1155 and is holding up. I do the game so it's got another 2-3 years before I switch unless I build a dual chip Xeon machine with older cores.
But for having a BSD OS. Mac OS like you said solid.
