That's not going to solve jobs simlly not being available, and why wouldn't the taxes come from companies who have automated? The UBI doesn't have to be very much, just enough to pay for food and rent and the bare necessities, and anything more would come from whatever work you find. I think companies would find automation preferable anyway, even if they had to pay similar amounts as if they had regular employees, because robots are less prone to mistakes and are more efficient regardless, so they'd probably still end up making more.
