Oh this is a current problem? I thought you meant long ago. NDISWrapper lets you use windows drivers on Linux but it's not perfect. Did you ask about this in v/linux?
Ah I see. Well if you want to try out Ubuntu today most likely it will just work. Linux has come a long way. There are a few problem laptops that have issues but there are workarounds for most.
