took people years to find practical and marketable uses for the laser when it was first discovered.

I see this in bio- and chemical industries: fast, reliable, programmable tests, biological as well as analytical. from the video, there are apparent magnetic artefacts left on their pathways. I suppose they require a few more years of research; they announced this as a proof of concept I believe.
