As a consumer would love to see this happen, but I'd rather not have it government-mandated.

Pick one. Companies know they can make FAR more profit by NOT doing these things, and charging the consumer a fortune for minor repairs. Which would you rather have? Parts, or less regulation?

I don't think the choices are mutually exclusive, but if I'm forced to pick, I'll go with less regulation.

Less regulation for me, far more for massive corporations, and give me my damn manuals and proprietary parts......

You clearly missed the point.

Without this regulation, the company and manufacturer is under no obligation to provide manuals and proprietary parts.
