Same. It's really short-sighted to put it nicely. I could go on, but I'm on mobile, you already get it, and I'm mildly distracted atm.

I doubt they'd burn 0-days on generic VPN accounts.

I would say that that is not why it is fucked up.

We need to get this out to as many people as possible, and I know a GREAT way to do this.

Use the Anti-Trumpers.

Post this to everywhere they hang out, explaining how this would give Trump's federal agencies the power to spy on them, disrupt everything they're working for, and blackmail and arrest people who oppose Trump's actions. It's actually true, and something that, despite whatever problems you might have with them, is something that shouldn't be done to them. They could massively signal boost this. At the worst case scenario, if some of the ringleaders/control nodes start getting orders from on high to stop worrying about that, then they might take a look at things anew.

So if you have an account at some of the other places, post this to get them on it as part of the Trumpfear.

Edit: if you have the ear of someone on a semi-legitimate "news" blog, even something shit like Medium, then get them to write something up about it and drop the links.

Use the Anti-Trumpers.

"Activist PoC use VPNs to protect themselves from racists doxing them. This is a racist bill aimed at profiing illegal immigrants and Muslims." 5% of America's GDP will get donated to prevent this watchlist.

in previous years that would totally work, unfortunately they've all become mildly retarded. your best bet is to share it with the pro-Trump people, who are a majority and clearly have the political power right now.

Why not both? Everyone seems retarded enough to share in the fun from where I stand.

I agree with /u/Empire_of_the_mind, it is probably a better bet to get this news to pro-Trump people in a good format. I think this this should have a cohoherent and informative message versus what it would likely become if this was being pushed by leftists (Great example /u/onehundredeleven).

Personally as a Trump supporter there are of course some things such as his pro-survelliance stance I do not agree with, I'm sure many feel the same since we are the majority and there was a lot of push against survelliance and anti net-neutrality bills etc going already. This could get some traction pretty easily

WTF? Your guy is going all 1984 but you need anti-trumpers to signal your disatisfaction over this policy?

Signal boost this: FUCK YOU!

"Your guy"? If you think I was a Trump(or Clinton, or Obama) voter you're wrong. The closest thing to "My" guy was John McAfee, who didn't have a shot in hell. We need all the signal boosting we can get, since no one in the MSM is touching this one, despite it's importance.

At the very least it is an admission that they have developed the capabilities they describe.

Donate to the EFF and write to your representatives and encourage others to do the same. Not much more to say. I'll probably tweet something about this later.

The EFF does not do shit when it comes to the real important issues. I stopped donating to them after they failed to do anything about the new FCC wifi regulations and the fact that some of the information on their site is misleading. When organizations like the EFF provide misleading information, it can put people's lives at risk (if they are a reporter / whistle blower).

So does this mean that because I use a VPN occasionally to download torrents, I am currently on a FBI watch list?

Okay so then what do I do? Am I just a sitting duck until the FBI chooses to pay me a visit? Or can I employ another technology? Someone mentioned the use of a firewall. How would that help?

Not currently, but you will be. If you use TOR, you also will be there. And after a while maybe even using of the internet as a whole could put you on a watch-list...

When everyone is on the list, then no one is on the list.

Since we use voat, I'm sure we are all on many different lists. At this point, there are more lists than people.

Funny all of this shit coming out on the back of Pizzagate. The govt doth protest too much?

[–] draegspir 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

They probably had all of this planned out. It's just that pizzagate has unexpectedly pushed their timeline way forward. All this scrambling to censor stuff shows they were not prepared for it. And thus, Streisand effect to the maxiumum!

Might be a good time to look for non-US-based VPNs.

[–] Kookus 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Not sure how that's going to help. They can still identify VPN traffic coming from your node, and put you on a watch list. And they can still use protocol-specific 0-days to monitor the traffic, presuming they have them, and there's no reason to believe otherwise.
