No, see, the way it works is like this:

"We get to be arbiters between Good and Evil by virtue of our superior ideological beliefs. Accordingly, we judge you guilty of being Evil by being not us"

It's the way these things have always worked since way before the Inquisition, up through Stalinist Russia and now in the current year. Oh, sure the actors and beliefs change, but not the behavioral patterns of people who think their faith makes them morally superior. Or the people, like Schmidt, who want to be inquisitors and exploit the believers.
