I bet this is because of their last video tackling the serious issue of islamic terrorism. Some butthurt jihadists probably tried to score their hero points.

You gotta be kidding me. I am not a big Prager fan anymore, but YouTube allows some of the most ignorant disgusting and disturbing videos but this is where the line is drawn? Ridiculous.

It is silly, but at least the videos can still be watched. They're just complaining people would need to sign in or use a modified link (why don't you think of the children!). If YouTube had removed the video, i'd been right there with them with much more support. Personally I find Prager U infuriating, because a lot of it's just right wing christian propaganda. The channel exist to tell you what's bad or good, and not fairly show two sides to have you to come to a conclusion yourself. It's often feel-good editorial type stuff that paints itself as conclusive and concrete fact, which the viewership then eats up like you wouldn't believe. It leaves out a lot of nuance and to complex subjects, uses Infantile animations and script, with even a fallacious channel name that further misleads the lowest common denominator it seems to be targeted at. Some of their videos ok, but many are fucking retarded.

I was censored in a Prager U comments section for making a lengthy comment on something the video left out, which prompted me to post an archive as proof of what happened, and then subsequently got the whole comment thread deleted. Ultimately, what Google does is their prerogative, since it's their site.

You can make age restricted videos play using a link like this https://www.youtube.com/v/ or this https://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=

You mean... he does what the media does? In that case, CNN should be removed from Youtube as well.

I read the story and then I went to the Prager Youtube channel and played a number of the supposedly 'blacklisted' videos (the ones listed in the article) right from Youtube. Am I missing something?

Edit: For example, the 'What ISIS Wants' video is listed as blacklisted, but it's right here playable on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7f0bKIOwys

Edit 2: Ok, I see that it requires to have 'restricted mode' (something I never knew existed) enabled.

They are always welcome to come to gvid. I probably couldn't handle their traffic, but it would be fun trying.

Something similar, webRTC p2p cdn. I want to build my own cdn first (not that hard) and then run the p2p cdn as a layer above that if I do go that route.

I have how I want it to work. There is an api available that does basically everything I need but I suspect one aspect is wrong for my needs. It uses the p2p and if the p2p is unreliable (which who knows precisesly what that means) then it falls back to your own cdn. The problem is I don't want it to wait to find out that the p2p isn't good enough or for it to resolve peers before the video can start playing.

I want to break the video into packets and store it in indexeddb (what I already do for uploads), then any video piece that is loaded within 10 seconds of the current player position always uses the normal cdn, then the peers for extra buffering. That may be a tall order though so I'm not describing the way it will look in the end.

Also I need to look at how the pre-packaged system handles mobile. So in the end I may have to build my own webRTC system.

The problem is though I'm taking a break from major development to do normal work. Taking a break from fake work to do real work (in larger amounts than I was before). I'm looking at taking on some new responsibilities in my life so it may go on for a while during the transition. If I got a big youtuber like prager to upload though I would drop everything and just work on that. I would love to work 16 hours a day trying to take on traffic. I could only dream of that.

Vimeo, Liveleak, & Dailymotion are well known competitors. There are several others, I have a list somewhere that I'll have to find.

I'm not sure why the popular Youtubers do not mirror their channels to the other services. Or why these other services do not use p2p or HEVC/h.265 video yet to cut costs.

And Youtube still insists I create an account with Google to continue to use my account from Youtube, which I won't. So I've been living without logging in to my account for some seven odd years.
