They get access to your and all your users' data, I'd guess, and the reliability/speed must be tuned to be just good enough to be useful while remaining bad enough to push you toward paying...

I think you have to start by reading their TOS. Interesting though... so we're not paying for hosting anymore. I'm glad it has come to that. :))

The company is owned by an LLC that is named in such a way as to intentionally make it difficult to discover details about it. But basically it was founded just last month and consists of one 19-year-old whose only other major project misrepresents itself as having been founded in the year he was born. Probably a good bet you should steer clear of this.

I thought alma mater was used only in the case where you have actually graduated but apparently it can refer to freshman too.

In retrospect, it's probably all just bot-generated drivel. If you look at OP's posting history, scattered amongst the legitimate news articles are a lot of posts like this, and on each of them you'll find one user who agrees heartily with him, conveniently created just moments before the post was made. It goes way down the rabbit hole, with chained users/socks, but I lost interest about four generations in.
