IMO it's an outdated system that people are becoming less and less willing to deal with. There needs to be something better. I'm not sure what that is, I'll admit, but the sooner ads go away, the sooner quality of life improves.
Also, It seems like every other week a new "OMG ADS GIVE YOU MALWARE!?!?" article comes out, because some big corporation is pushing malicious ads. It's not even a matter of preference anymore, it's a matter of safety.

Brave lets you choose; you can see ads as served by the site, "clean" ads served through Brave's ad program, or no ads at all. If you choose no ads, you can also choose if you want to pay sites (automatically from your built-in Bitcoin wallet) or just have Brave act like a standard ad blocker.
I think it is a really good step in the right direction and am considering using the Brave-served ads in order to support the sites I like. But you can choose differently.

I'm skeptical that site owners actually get the bitcoins. How many site owners have signed up vs how many sites have been visited a day? Smells like BS to me.
