Good. We need a worldwide movement to put libre software and eventually libre hardware far and above all this greedy, closed-source spyware that permeates society. These abusive big tech companies have gained far too much control over people's lives.

This is false. It competes against microsoft office. There is no mention of "libreoffice online" in this article. That actually competes against google docs.

Yeah. I just copied the headline. It more of complements Google Docs than competes. I can use LO to save directly to GD now (apparently).

Thought so, they aren't near well funded enough to offer a cloud solution. Same for office. We use 365 and the cloud is integral. We are moving away from.local file storage as it's cheaper than bwcking up 1k machines. Does it offer integrated cloud and sharing through AD?

I haven't used Google Docs for a long time, but I recall it being about borderline MS Wordpad with a spell check while LibreOffice was a lot better. Did Docs get a big update or something? I didn't think there was really a competition.

Edit: I see now. I skimmed over the part where it said that Libre is implementing integration with "cloud" services. I was thinking of something more interface wise.

I don't know but there is a pretty stark difference in that you use LibreOffice whereas Google allows you to use Docs.

Neat. I never liked Google Docs for some reason. I just don't want to do literally everything in my browser. I like having purpose-built software.

I still use txt + PNG for my notes.

Google Docs is shit. There isn't really much competing to be done.

Only now? I've been using Libreoffice over openoffice for a while now.
