And they don't rotate daily, weekly and monthly backups because pointy-haired boss?

No because what backups? smaller business just don't do it at all and then they get burned. then the cost is reasonable but until they see the effect themselves it is a waste for something with a minor chance of effecting them.

Computers have been pretty much mainstream for 20 - 30 years so I'd say the chances of someone not knowing what it's like to not have backups is very low. Except for youngsters, that is.
