If I could convince my family and some friends, who I have no other way to contact, to switch, I would.

Text, email, phone, letter, post card, paying a visit, messenger, mail order flowers.. the list goes on. Everyone has a goddamn email address.. it's required for functioning with most businesses online.

If you can only contact your friends over Facebook, they're not really friends.

How hard is it to send a Facebook message asking those people for their phone number and email?

They keep speaking of the "experience", that ad blockers are ruining it. Nobody wants to experience ads. Therefore, Facebook is full of shit and they freaking know it.

https://archive.is/UGMz8 :

AdBlock Plus blocks Facebook's ad-blocker buster: It's a block party! • The Register

"Now, thanks to quick work by its developer community, ABP will be able to block those new Facebook ads as well.", "The makers of Adblock Plus (ABP) have already found a way to defeat Facebook's anti-ad-block tools."

"Those ads are specially crafted by Facebook to circumvent ad-blocking plugins such as Adblock Plus."

"The Facebook filter can be manually added to the list of blocked ads, or users can wait for a coming update that will automatically add the script.", "An updated filter list for ABP will disappear web ads on Facebook's desktop site – including banners the social network said it would force people to see even if they are using ad-blocking tools."

This has been an automated message.

So if it also blocks posts than can it be assumed they are injecting ads into user posts?

same style anyway. they show up as "suggested" posts so it looks like a friends post or like something a friend would share but its an ad for the company giving you the chance to like or follow the bullshit in addition to seeing whatever the ad is.
