It's literally the only reason I subscribed. If they put ads I'll just not watch TV... and torrent the very few shows that I want.

This is how I am.

No way am I paying for satellite or some streaming service when I don't want most of what I'd get through them. But I'd rather not wait either.

Where are the a la carte services for new shows? Answer: There are none (AFAIK). Mainly because of deals that prevent that kind of thing from happening.

Have you considered getting a digital antenna? It still sort of impresses me how many TV channels you can get for free

HBO go offers live streams but I don't know how into HBO's programming you may be

If Netflix started showing more ads than the new show trailers they just introduced (yes, those are ads),

That has me worried. It is advertising and it is invasive.
