This is a perfect example of how socialism works. Companies create a service, on their own dime, spend billions, and the government comes in and proclaims it as a "right."

Oh, you're serious? No, the internet started from a government project (ARPANET), and is built using money from municipal governments and the federal government. The only thing the ISPs pay for is a couple switches in a neighborhood, and bulk data rates for backbone fiber.

Since when is a 'Utility' a right? I think you have things confused. Utilities are regulates because they are necessary for modern society and have a high potential for abuse due to things like natural monopolies.

We literally paid for the infrastructure your ISP uses over 10 years ago when they promised to bring 45mbps Internet to everyone's door for aboutn $40 a month. Guess what, they didn't do that. They took the money and ran. All $200 billion.
