There is a golden rule that all seasoned developers keep close to their hearts: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If the current system fulfills all the existing requirements, the system works. Updating a system of this magnitude for the sake of "modernization" is the classic recipe that countless multimillion dollar projects used to fail spectacularly.
