If I were in defense, I don't know if I would trust Microsoft or LibreOffice more for security. One is a large foreign company, the other is an open source project that does not have the same security research investment behind it.

I'm sure if they hired €5M worth of programmers to help LibreOffice strengthen their security they would be much better off security wise than Microsoft could dream of. Then still come out ahead €24M with better software and it being more secure.

Except with one it's actually possible to assess LibreOffice's security and even fix it, which you couldn't do with Microsoft
