Cool. You may know I'm really passionate about the early days of Rock and I enjoy listening to development of the tech when it first appeared. One of the pioneers was a project/album by 3 people who called their effort White Noise - An Electrical Storm. They were the inspiration for many that came after, like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream. Here's a track from that project and a litle history of the effort.

Awesome. One has to be in the mood for the early experimental stuff, but there are some true gems out there in the wild. Here's some very early dark ambient for you.

Yeah, being a new way of exploring sound does require a different view of listening to it. A lot like abstract and impressionistic visual art, it takes a while to appreciate the nuances. Equipped with the means to produce sounds not heard before, a lot of experimentation took place with some efforts winding up not being well accepted. But it all needed to be explored to see what could be done. As it developed, it seems to have become more of an augmentation, especially in Rock, and allowed people like Keith Emerson to revisit many classical pieces in a new and refreshing light. Pictures At An Exhibition is one of my favorite works. I have a short background on that also if you're interested.
If you get a synth you know we'd love to hear what you do in the FNGT.
