We have a common issue where there are xx,xxx files in folder A and a specific set of of them need to be moved to folder B.
Using SQL I found which files are needed and concatenated some command line code around the filename. I pasted that output into notepad and saved it as a .bat file. Then I run that .bat file and it moves the files from folder A to folder B. Pretty handy solution when there's no easy way to copy specific files out of a large folder.
SELECT 'xcopy /s "EnterSourceDirectoryHere' + FileName + '>" "EnterDestinationDirectoryHere"'
This script produces a row for each FileName. Copy/paste the results into Notepad and save as .bat. Double-click and viola! This took a few mins to move a few thousand files.
